I just hired a handyman to come install my vaulted ceiling adapter for my X-Pole. I thought I could do it. I was perched on my super tall ladder with my studfinder and a drill, and let’s just say that my ceiling is now peppered with holes because I couldn’t find the damn joist.

Even my husband failed miserably, after insisting “You must be doing it wrong. Let me do it!” CUZ HE’S A MAN AND HE KNOWS HOW TO WIELD POWER TOOLS….

I hang my head in shame. I got so frustrated I hired a guy to come do it for me: “Wanted: Handyman to install exercise equipment.” Tee hee. This guy better be worth the $80 I’m paying him. And while he’s here, he can help me put up my stainless steel kitchen backsplash.

It’s so beautiful! Poor handy man wasn’t expecting a pole, but he was a good sport and put it up, all the while commenting on how sturdy it was and how amazed he was at the quality. Lol.

Haha excellent, at least it will be done properly 🙂 I had a joiner come round this week to price up a job in my spare room, he saw my pole and was like, ‘is that supporting your ceiling?’ Hahahah should have seen his face when my fella told him I do pole dance…love it!

He was so nice. And I have the peace of mind that the adapter really and truly is screwed into the ceiling properly. He even went out of his way to get me better screws at the hardware store down the road because he didn’t like the ones that came with it. He said the ones that came with the adapter were too thin and too short, and that most of the screw would be in the drywall instead of the wood.

We liked him so much, we’ve booked him to renovate our bathroom, too!

Haha, don’t feel too bad, vaulted ceilings are notoriously tricky for mounting anything, especially when you’re dealing with heavy exercise equipment. I went through something similar when I tried to put up a pull-up bar in my apartment; the amount of patchwork I had to do on the wall afterwards was embarrassing. In the end, calling a professional was the smartest choice because they know how to locate joists and install safely without leaving extra damage behind.

If your guy does a good job with the pole and backsplash, that $80 will feel worth every cent. In Singapore, I’ve seen people recommend PS Handyman Singapore for these types of tricky home tasks since they’re used to handling installations that require precision. You can check them out here: https://www.pshandymansingapore.com/. Having someone reliable saves you both the stress and the repairs later on.
