I have to watch my weight too. When I don't exercise I tend to loose weight because I don't eat as much as when I do work out.https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif Here is what helped me gain.
I use to graze and eat little bits all day, that didn't work. I was always hungry and skinny! I started eating 3 main meals breakfast, lunch, dinner and I will have a snack in between each meal and one before bed. Going too long without eating makes me shaky, tired and crabby!
I force myself to finish my plate, I use to leave a lot behind, but now I do my best to make myself finish what I take. I know I'm weird, but I have a hard time overeating!!
I ALWAYS have a high calorie high protein shake after my workouts. About 500 calories give or take.
I stopped eating so many carbs. This was all I ate as a kid and young adult. I'm so much healthier now that I have a more balanced diet. I still LOVE my carbs but I make sure to pair them with protein or veggies too. Really I pretty much lived off of cake and bread as a kid!! https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif lol

The list of suggestions posted above has some good info for the most part. However, I would like to add that stretching BEFORE working out has been shown to not improve performance or decrease injury at all. So you would be better off spending your time warming up with some cardio instead of static stretches. Also there are some people who need to have lotion or they will not be able to grip because their skin is too dry. So there are a few exceptions. Just do not apply the lotion right before poling, a few hours before is best.

You'll often see my kids wander in while I'm practicing, they appear in a number of my practice videos. lol https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Working on inverting from up on the ball of the foot will help you with your heeled inverts. Remember in heels you can’t spring or bounce off the foot so don’t be tempeted to let the heel drop down as you lift into the inverts barefoot 🙂

Saphyre is right, a lot of the pole tricks could put your rotator cuff at risk, if your body isn't ready, or if you work out side of your ROM. Conditioning and strengthen for the shoulders is pretty much a must for pole dancers.
Most rotator cuff injuries happen when doing overhead motions with the arm. Overuse and repetitive overhead motions cause the most trouble….so don't over do the moves listed below.
Spins, reverse grab is a common one people rush into learning.
Inverted split grips,
Split grips,
Twisted grip from standing! This is a super, duper, common injury…..https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

Here is a OLD vid of me doing just a shoulder mount drop/slide. its starts around min 2:09. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkwANY1h-JI&list=UUup79MtZnWP_SCAHeVlmzdQ&index=52&feature=plcp I didn't get any shoulder burn or pain because for this I used the hands.
The bomb variation I would say she catches mostly with her legs.

This is just what has worked with my poles. I don't have any large nicks or chips, just some scratches, so if your finish is already in poor shape I don't know what to tell you.
You are not going to leave the steam on the pole. Also you don't rub the pole or even touch it with the iron or steamer. You put the steamer close to the pole, then wipe till it's nice and dry. I think the biggest issue would be if your pole was kept in a very damp place, or if you cleaned your pole with lots of water often without drying well.

Here's a YT video I did with some tips for using a spinning pole. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CtinAzp17s0&list=UUup79MtZnWP_SCAHeVlmzdQ&index=6&feature=plcp

I use a fabric steamer to clean all of my new poles. Takes all the junk off really well.

The only thing you need to be watching is your progress. Video is a great way to do that. Yes, you may look at the video you just recorded and not like how it looks. But then try going back to your very first video. I bet you'll see the improvements you've made. I make videos all the time and don't like them, I can see tons of things I'd like to change.
Flexibility takes TIME. There are some who are naturally flexy and others who are naturally strong. Unless you are a professional level pole dancer you should not expect your flexibility to be at the same level as someone who poles for a living! Also have you created a plan of action for improving flexibilty?
Sometimes taking a break from poling is needed to find your passion for it again. It's ok to work on something else for a while. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
