First. don't feel bad about not being able to spin!! Most spins are not suitable for beginners, and should not be taught until later on, once appropriate strength is gained. It's unfortunate that some studios start off with spins. It can lead to injury and be discouraging…..Your asking yourself to do something new so it tends to look and feel strange.
Something that may be helpful would be to use a notebook to track your progress. You can write down little thoughts on how the class went and so on. Another very helpful tool is a video camera. It may seem silly to tape yourself as a beginner, but its a wonderful tool to track progress. You can easily look back and see how far you've come! https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
We all progress at different rates so and not every move is suitable for every pole dancer. Some will stay at beginner level and there's nothing wrong with that.. Finding a way to track your progress is the best way to see if you're improving. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Shaphyre, Do the Hanky Pankys crawl up the "front" at all…that's my big issue it hurts https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif I like wearing thongs but after a while it's too painful, I don't understand how other women handle it!! I must have a hungry Vajayjay….. lol

I think you might enjoy the 40mm as a smaller person, but I don't think you would struggle too much either with a 45. Remember some of the greats, are tiny and started off learning on 50mm poles! We do sell both sizes here as well and are an authorized xpole dealer, and you get free shipping https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Does anyone know of tiny underwear that don't crawl up? https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif

We have many amazing, strong, ladies here that are over 5' 7". I'm 5'8". It does mean you may have to focus on building more strength in order to do some of the moves. But you'll have amazing lines. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I think bringing the arm lower might be a problem area for some…..
Here's worked for me. From a straight edge….in order to bring the gripping arm into a lower position, try pushing out into a Eros (i keep the free leg over head). This will allow you to maneuver the gripping arm. Otherwise you feel stuck in forearm grip! You are not gripping with the forearm, like a straight edge. The pole is by the chest and armpit! Keep in mind that we all have different limb lengths to play around with a placement that works for you.
Here is a vid of my first attempts, looking forward to working on this again! Working from the floor was really helpful! https://stage.studioveena.com/videos/view/501ad6df-3f68-46f1-a1f4-366e0ac37250

Try using a fabric steamer when you first take the pole out of the package or when it gets really dirty! Works wonders. I use alcohol while I practice. The steamer does an amazing job though, try it if you have grip issues!!!

It does get better as you become stronger. Also, some pole finishes work better with certain skin type and climates. Another thing to try….Some polers find they stick better with a very clean pole, others like to have a little build up on it. Sounds gross, but it can help. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
