AdministratorDecember 12, 2011 at 3:18 pm in reply to: A pole buying guide: What thickness to buy?Awesome Amy, I get a lot of emails on this question. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif
For home polers I always suggest the 45mm. If someone is interested in competing then I suggest they work on as many sizes and finishes as they can. But for fun and fitness I think 45 is the best bet. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_santa.gif

AdministratorDecember 12, 2011 at 3:14 pm in reply to: Xpole Titanium Gold VS lil Mynx Powder CoatPodzhi one thing to keep in mind….when dancing on the studio poles you and your pole are probably nice an warmed up if your taking a class. If you try dancing on a cold pole you'll slip. A lot of home polers forget to warm up their bodies and their poles. So before you feel you need to invest in another pole make sure your nice and warmed up and the pole is too. This may not be the problem but I thought I would mention it. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

If your taking the lessons I cover the difference between Stretching and Flexibility training in this lesson https://stage.studioveena.com/lessons/view/4dd66731-eab0-4b4a-aa13-41ad0ac37250.
Flexibility training is used to improve and increase flexibility. Stretching is used to maintain, and should be done after strength training, with the focus on stretching the muscles used. This should only take a few mins and it can be done daily. Flexibility training is much more involved and intense. I strongly feel you should not train everyday. Flexibility takes TIME

AdministratorDecember 10, 2011 at 9:29 pm in reply to: Straight Leg Invert (From floor and climb)Developing a strong core is important before inverting with 2 straight legs. Conditioning exercises like The Switch, Ab Curl and Hip Flexor Lift are important, you don't want the quads taking on all of the load. If your not engaging the hip flexors and abs enough you can also stress your lower back. For nice straight legs when dancing, try not to think about squeezing your quads only (some ppl tighten/flex without fully extending) try thinking of extending through the back of the knee to maintain a nice straight leg line. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_santa.gif

Yes, whatup that is the end position…. But when learning you stay squared until you have your balance then you open up turning the hips. If you turn too soon and your not strong enough you’ll end up sideways 🙂
