@ JelliCrew. I don't do any booty or sensual dancing when the kids are around the room. The only time I can let go and get out of "mommy mode" is if my husband takes the kids with him to the gym daycare. Or if they all go out fishing. If its just the younger kids at home I'll do floorwork and such, but they are downstairs watching TV with the doors closed.  Honestly though, I don't think any of my moves are vulgar so I don't get embarrassed if they happen to see me. Its not like I'm grabbing my crotch or grinding on the pole! LOL They've never even watched me dance to a whole song, only tricks are fun for them. Pole is just another exercise I do like going to the gym or hooping.

My kids hang out with me in my office when I work on editing lessons and videos…they've been in the room while I was working my sensual "red" video and they don't even notice, or care about what's on the screen. It's normal to them and so they don't pay attention. At some point my kids will realize that exotic dancers use poles in clubs too and it doesn't concern me at all. When I started pole dancing I was worried about things like that but not any more. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

@ sexy you don't have to be able to V invert first, you just need a very strong basic invert. And by that I mean, the knees are ending up high on the pole past the hands so the hips are up nice and high as well. Otherwise your hands will be in the way and moving into the knee pit will be difficult. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Hi JelliCrew,https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif I am constantly torn between making time for my pole family and my home family (all boys 2 5 8 10)…..it can get overwhelming at times when you feel you have to be ALL to EVERYONE! I do feel it's important for women to have their me time, and pole is a great me time!!

Before pole dance was my "real job" I would have limited time on the pole, about 45 mins to an hour. Some weeks I would pole 4 times or more, other weeks not at all. I completely understand your frustration!! I love my kids and my pole family, but I love my pole dance too!! I have learned to just be flexibile and go with the flow, instead of being upset about the days I missed a practice because of kids, work or just having to take care of things at home.

Here is what get's me through a practice.. I always do it in the morning, if I wait it never gets done, I'm just too tired at the end of the day! I turn the TV on for the kids, or get them started with colors, play-doh or some thing of that nature. But they know its my time to exercise. We have set rules that when I'm on the pole they cannot play on it too. Its hardest for my 2 yr old and he is always wandering up into the room. This is why I have very few uncut videos posted LOL.

If your too sweaty to pole try working on floorwork, transitions ect, these are just as important as pole moves and spins. I'm not sure if my post was much help but I wish you luck in finding your important me time!!!! https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

Everyone has some great advice! Pointing the foot really can help get the heel poking out more (and it just looks better)

Remember…..You must be solid in your Butterfly before moving on the the extended variation, as mentioned in the lesson. The upper body plays a large roll in this move, and the farther you extend the leg away from you, the more difficult it will be to hold, if your only using the heel. The heel is there to help hold you in place, not do the work for your upper body. Also you may want to try thinking about pressing the back of the calf against/into the pole instead of just hooking it….. If that makes sense.

Holly, posting a video would be helpful if that is possible.

Mechie the Play-Doh reference made me giggle a bit,…..I know what you mean, but for me its on my belly! Yes, your Knee Pit will toughen up and the pain goes away. I have a bit of rough skin from time to time when I have done a lot of Gemini's. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gifThere is no rush to take the hands off, Some dancers may never let go with the hands. Its all about what a person is comfortable with. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Timing is everything when you have kids and a business….some of the events have come up at an inconvenient time. In addition to the things Chem listed I have done Pole Jams in several locations over the yrs, just had a fun one in Vegas! The great thing is, through my lessons I have been able to reach out and teach so many people that can't afford workshops or are in area's where they are not running workshops.

I do set goals for myself if you follow me on FB and here, you'll have seen me post pics of my back flexibility progress working towards moves like the Advanced Ballerina. I'm hoping to hold a 10 sec handstand by my birthday in week! I never stop learning or working on new things.

My kids will only be little for such a short time, I will be able to teach pole for a very long time. (yeah I'll still planning on teaching when I'm 100 yrs old, crusin in my hoveround) https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Right now, doing the best I can with Studioveena and my kids are more important than being included the list of top Elite Pole Dancers. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Hips over head, then lift the legs….that is the key for any of these balance moves. Finding the best hand placement when doing a Hanstand Press and Bending the knees (while feet are on the floor) for the Pencil mount are good tricks to try, allowing you to move the hips over head.https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

    If your taking them….

I have the vaulted ceiling mount for my x pole and love it. Makes it easy to put up and take down. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
