AdministratorAugust 13, 2011 at 8:49 am in reply to: Rockstar & Pretzel Spins.. are they really spinning??You can do both on either spin or static. The entry however will be different!!!! You have to use momentum and timing to do ANY kind of spin on a static pole….spins on a spinny pole are just holds https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
I just posted a vid with the rockstar in it on STATIC you can even see it from 2 angles if your interested its around min 1:15 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=php2HBPff8Q&feature=channel_video_title

The spinning scorpio is different…its like a spinning V aka spinning chopper, but your in scorpio position. I do have a Gemini Scoprio Switch Lesson…https://stage.studioveena.com/lessons/view/4ce15e37-17d0-4712-8af4-6c7b0ac37250 but it doesn't included the spin part.

Is this what your talking about? https://stage.studioveena.com/videos/view/d650d9e6-c3b4-11df-bc90-001b21721e0c Keep in mind this is NOT the normal quality of the lessons here its kinda crappy quality. Its just a quick freebie I did for some members a few yrs ago. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

@ Reality, if you have questions on any of the lessons please feel free leave a comment asking for help if you need too and be sure to start with the first lesson. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Hi, Reality https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif have you work on moves to build up strength first before moving on to spins? Also can you do half spin variations? I do not consider spins to be beginner moves so don't feel to frustrated if they seem too difficult at first. If your taking studio lessons ask your instructor to give you some exercise to strengthen the necessary muscle for spins. If your taking the online lessons here then make sure your starting from the beginners section, the Veena Method starts you off with strength buiding moves first then we move on to spins. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Hi Coleslaw.https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif Did you watch this video "Tips for Success"? https://stage.studioveena.com/lessons/view/did-bf68-46c6-9306-11770ac37250 Also, you can find more information on structoring your pole workouts in all of the "Getting started videos" You'll find these videos at the beginning of each section, they contain important info. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
I know you said you have been poling for a few yrs now but I would still suggest starting with the strength and stretching for the first few weeks and then… try moving on to transitions and beginner pole work on your 3rd week. This would give you something structured to follow. Remember the lessons are set up for you to use them in the order in which they are listed…even the stretches.
One of the most important things you can do is keep a log to track your progress and to track what you would like to do or have done. Once things are written down you can make sure that you have the rest days you need.
I'm sure others will have some great ideas as well.

Have you tried the stretches for the back in the lessons yet? I personally use all of these to improve my back mobility ( I do not have natural back mobility ). The stretches I have are perfect for beginners because I provided detailed instruction on proper placement. There is also a nice stretch towards the end of the side splits routine https://stage.studioveena.com/lessons/view/4e23973c-e724-4d0a-9b2e-79650ac37250 that is great for the bac and hip flextors. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

If your just getting into stretching then only work on these a max of 2 times a week (if your doing them on the same day). If you do them separately then do each routine once a week, to start.
If you have been working on flexibility for a while, feel free to work on the routines every other day.
If you find your sore or if your loosing flexibility then give yourself more time in between (also be sure your fully warm and not over stretching).
The end pose your talking about is that the pull though? If so its advanced so if its not comfortable yet skip it. The most important thing is to listen to your body. More is not always best when it comes to working out or increasing flexibility. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif
There is not average time frame every body is different so as long as your seeing progress then your doing great! xoxo Keep us posted!
