Hmmmm, why does it have to be call Pole Fitness for jesus. lol Can't you just pole dance cuz you like it? Not sure what jesus has to do with it if they are not using class time to spread the word of "god" ect.
I agree Empy about both points on wearing the heels!
I feel anyone regardless of size, race, faith can pole. I think you can dance to whatever music expresses what your feeling or what you want others to feel. But calling a studio Pole Fitness for jesus is just odd.

Technically the abs will never be the same… But… You don’t have to have surgery in order to have great looking abs after babies.
To see if you had separation, lay down on your back, place your fingers on your bellybutton palm facing you. From there do a small crunch, if you feel more than 2 fingers worth of soft space then you may have had significant separation

The skin for some will stretch and you'll have extra (but this can get better over time) for others, there will always be a bit extra skin. I doubt I'll ever loose all of my skin but oh well!
You can totally get your tummy back in shape though!!!!! I have sexier and stronger abs now then I did before my 4 boys! If you had abdominal separation…..the "rectus abdominis" ( 6 pack ) can have a slightly different appearance after baby. You also need to be careful about the ab exercise you do when getting back into shape. The rectus abdominis will never be the exactly the same as before baby….BUT its not a huge deal for most. Its really NOT A BIG DEAL! I had abdominal separation with my 3rd and my abs are very strong and I think they look fine! I Dislike shows like the DRs because a lot of it is hype and meant to cause ppl worry or fear about things that are not really a big deal!!! You can help elemenate the pooch look here is a vid I did about your belly after baby. https://stage.studioveena.com/videos/view/d650d310-c3b4-11df-bc90-001b21721e0c

AdministratorMarch 21, 2011 at 7:29 pm in reply to: Aysha…split grip vs. forearm grip vs. elbow grip@ Shellectra your not weird at all! If your doing the elbow grip right you will feel nice and secure as you move away from the pole. As a taller dancer, you have to move very far away to get that secure feeling so this I think is why some dislike it at first. The split grip is very difficult and you shouldn't expect to go right from the elbow/forearm to suddenly learning the Split grip. Give your self some time https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

The technique is slightly different for all of these grips when doing an "aysha" or what I call a "straight edge V". From what I have noticed, taller dancers tend to feel more secure in the forearm grip, you don't have to lean out and away from the pole like you do in the elbow grip variation.
The order I teach it in forerm or elbow (which ever is comfy) then Split grip.

That's good to hear Amaranth! You may find that just doing a week or 2 of the scapula exercises will help. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

Sounds like the upper back/shoulders may not be strong enough yet. If that is the case I would hold off on inverts until they can be done with total control. Go back and work on these lessons to build up your strength.

Never ever compare your progress to someone else. There will always be someone "better". I also know its so hard not to do! I have done this many times and it ALWAYS ends up making me really depressed. Some ppl will find physical things like pole dance or step aerobics class easier than others. We all have different strengths. I totally SUCK at math and it takes me forever to learn something book wise. My memory is awful. Not everyone will be a pole trickster, not everyone will be extremely flexible.
Do something because YOU love it and it makes you feel good. If you can't get away from comparing yourself maybe a home pole would be a good idea for awhile. It would give you a chance to focus on just you. I suggest recording, taking pic or writing down your practices so you can look back and see that you really have improved. It can be hard to notice improvements unless we track them. The only one you need to worry about "out doing" is you. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif Now lets see if I can take my own advice. LOL

Thanks Keex! We had samples on the old site but things got a bit misplaced when we switched over! I'm very proud of the lessons and looking forward to adding more! https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Studio lessons are great! Having a home pole in addition is even better. If your looking for lessons to use at home this is a sample of my lessons here. https://stage.studioveena.com/user_registrations/example_view/4cd0054b-9630-42dd-9748-057f0ac37250 Also you can leave me a comment on any lesson and I will get back to you and help you out! Lessons have routines for each level, a warm up, strength, stretching, transitions and floorwork.

My personal "studioveena" definition of a Pole Jam: The gathering of pole dancers all levels. Sharing, and learn from each other. Its not structured and not performance based, just fun. Usually free or very low cost. Friends, fun and music! https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I show two variations in this lesson https://stage.studioveena.com/lessons/view/f7c4b070-b91e-11df-856f-001b214581be One from Scorpio and one from Half Jade.
