How long have you been dancing and how often are you dancing? If your taking the lessons you might want to try out the Pole Shoulder Press. Its a toughy! http://ver3.studioveena.com/lessons/view/2192

Do you guys turn out when you extend your legs or are you trying to keep the perfectly straight? Depending on the move turning the leg out (knee cap points to the outside) can look a lot cleaner than trying to keep the leg straight (knee cap up) Also strong hip flexors Iliopsoas are needed as well. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
If your doing workouts in addition to pole that build muscle like weight training, squats, PX90 ect and not stretching well during and after EVERY workout you can end up feeling very tight. When I lift weights I stretch in between and after every set, especially legs!! Then for a good half hr or longer I stretch some more after my workout. Things like sitting for a long time will also tighten you right up. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif
Active stretching and PNF stretching are good ways to strengthen the muscles while stretching them. Working on strength moves like Leg lifts http://ver3.studioveena.com/lessons/view/2224 with a focus on control and lengthening can help. If you focus on extending the legs in various positions while dancing it can really strengthen quite well while also stretching the muscle. Do either of you have a pic or vid of your leg extensions that you dislike…it may also not be as bad as you think!!

Never compare your progress against someone else….it will always make you feel bad.
Think about why your pole dancing.. Is it for fitness, fun, or do you want to compete? If its for fitness or just for fun then there is nothing wrong with not progressing up into intermediate or advance pole work. But hoping to compete is a whole other story. Then you must work on strength and flexibility off the pole as well. Trust me when I kick into high gear for my poling I hit the gym and yoga mat more than the pole!! It would also take far more time than the average person has to be a competitor. There is nothing wrong with pole dancing for fun or to just challenge YOURSELF!!!!!
Remember that not ALL moves can or should be done by ALL pole dancers. Someone who never inverts is still a pole dancer!!! https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

I would be curious what the competitors or performers do as well. Other than jumping around and doing lunges and such I don’t know how you would warm up for a performance. Warm ups for practice purposes are a whole other thing. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

Be careful when trying to learn from just pictures or short clips with no instruction of any kind https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_pale.gif I have designed my lessons to build pole specific strength!! There IS reasoning behind the Veena method I created for the order of the lessons and levels…… There are things new dancers even with strength should avoid!

Split grips (like the pic with the girl in a V leg position) are NOT beginner moves. I don’t like a lot of the expertvillage tutorials they can be really poorly executed and the info is not always the safest. Tho some are great.
Here are videos I have made that might help you understand more where to start…..

Welcome to the site…..I’m so sorry to hear about your injuries. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif I can image how scary it must be. I know there are many dancers who NEED their pole dance to not only help keep them physically strong but mentally strong. Sending you healing energy. Keep us posted.

This is why I don’t recommend TG finish to newer dancers…..it will take a good amount of time to get your hands accustom to static spins with this finish. With the TG you can’t slide into moves as well so you have to be pretty spot on in your positioning. Even I had some adjustment time with my TG but now I love it so much https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
