It can be helpful to focus more on using your upper body. The abs will hold the tuck or V/straddle position but the biceps, lats, scapula will have to give that extra "pull" to the the booty up over head. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif Here are 2 lessons that are helpful for this move

Take the pressure off by remembering to use your core muscles AND the biceps, triceps and hands to control the movement. The hands should be gripping the pole strongly so use that leverage to take some of the weight off the shoulder. Its normal to be sore at first though, its also a great move to prep the area for shoulder mounts! https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_santa.gif

No, its an invert but legs are held in Tuck position, (knees to chest) I think some call it a monkey hang or something. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif

I don’t ever watch other YT videos unless someone asks me to. And even though you can set to approve comments it still can be hurtful to have to see them https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cry.gif . The only reason I still post to YT is for the old fans that had started following me when I was new to pole…..I get a good amount of hate ( I had videos flagged and removed for no reason ) so I know that when I do post I should expect it. I recently started posting more of my sexier videos to YT because I don’t think there is anything wrong with the more sensual style of pole either. If someone doesn’t like it they don’t have to watch https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

The rest is one of the best ways to prevent over use injury. Some exotic dancers might do a trick here and there but mostly its about the show…they are not trying to learn something new or exercise. The body will adjust to the demands you place on it eventually (for some sooner than others). This is why professionals can exercise every day. This is also why its important to change your workout every so often, to keep the body and brain guessing so it will continue to grow. BUT for your beginning dancer, or for any new form of exercise for that matter, rest is ALWAYS very important so the muscle can repair. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rendeer.gif
