AdministratorJune 21, 2010 at 8:03 pm in reply to: upper body vs. lower body proportion ratioDon’t worry about ratio…you’ll be fine! However….I’m not sure how long you have been pole dancing but, most spins are NOT beginner moves. As a new dancer, the focus should be on pole work that strengthens the body. This is how I have the online lessons set up. If your taking the lessons following the suggested order is very helpful in building up strength so you can perform pole spins safely and smoothly. There is no need to feel like you have to loose weight or change some portion of your body to enjoy pole dance. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

Clean the TG with Alcohol…..I had grip slip issues with my pole about a month after I had it….the weather was cold but humid and the pole seemed to grip and slip at the same time….almost like it was sweating. It didn’t last long tho.
AC will affect the poles grip…..AC tends to dry out the air. Also remember factors like your skin can affect the grip. I have dry skin and do NOT use AC so humidity gives me wonderful grip. I perspire just enough for skin to be moist but not so much I am wet with sweat. BUT if you tend to have oily skin or sweat a lot in humid weather you might slip. Things like Deodorant/antiperspirant will cause my poles grip to become poor.
I have dry skin, no AC and the 70s and humidity seems to give me super grip https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif

The online lessons here start off new dancers with strength work first, then pole moves that build strength. THEN you get to spin….Don’t feel bad at all! Spins are not easy…I don’t teach them as beginner moves for this very reason. Give yourself some time and ask your instructor to give you some strength moves to help you. If you have a pole at home you could think about adding the lessons here to your work outs. Like I mentioned before I start you off with strength work and pole moves that develop your muscles so you can then work on more advanced spins and moves. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
