Your so lucky you have had a chance to play on the poles at your families club! That upper body strength will help you soooooo much. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif Do you know what the poles at the club are made out of? Brass (gold color) or high polished Stainless Steel (silver color). If they are brass and you like how they feel, go with the TG X pole. If they are SS and you like that go with chrome.
So as far as size…. I would go with the 45mm if you think you want to dance only in your home. The smaller size can make grip for advanced tricks easier. If you want to compete or take classes elsewhere go with the 50mm. This is the standard size in clubs and most studios.
As far as finish….I had my first pole in the midwest. I loved the Chrome, it still maintains grip in the cold and gets nice and grippy in the summer. If you only want to do spinny mode go ahead an get the fancy Titanium gold because it has the best grip, so you can hang on for dear life as you spin https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_puke_r.gif this is equal to brass…almost as grippy, brass it the ultimate in grip. If you want to perform spins on a static non spinny pole go with the chrome. The TG can be too grippy to learn static spin on for some. New dancers tend to have a death grip when first learning to spin so gold can be too grippy. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif

Okay, size may not matter https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif , but length does https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif .
LOL Glad you had a great and safe https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_safesex.gif time!

A lot of people don’t realize that back flexibility can go both ways. Forward… is back flexibility and leaning back/arching is ab/hip flexor flexibility. LIke Roxy said its not just one mucsle group that usually cause you to feel tight.
To get a better ARCH you want to focus on stretching the abs hip flexors and quads/front of thigh.
A yoga pose called the cobra is good for stretching these muscles http://carrieanddanielle.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/12/bhujangasana_cobra_pose.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
To touch your toes you need to stretch your erector spinae muscles and hamstring and calfs. If your doing a forward fold…like trying to touch your toes be sure to flex your feet not point them. Flexing will increase the stretch.
The forward fold is a good stretch for these, the woman looks scared in this pic. lol http://cdn-viper.demandvideo.com/media/c27d9c33-377a-49d3-91e5-35b1faf828fe/jpeg/4ebb633d-d0c0-498b-bb85-810617ce6be4_4.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
Here is another great stretch, I did this a lot while I was pregnant! It feels great and when done correctly you can feel it in your upper back too!! Those hard to stretch rhomboids. http://www.yogaposes365.com/uploaded_images/yoga-poses-3656-714296.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

By back flexibility do you mean…bending forward as in to touch your toes? Or Wanting to increase the range of motion for moves that require you to bend backward…like the pole move the dove?

AdministratorJuly 19, 2009 at 9:56 pm in reply to: New to poledancing… any tips to build up strenght ?You can use your pole to build up strength! In my online lessons, I have a full body work out, using only your body weight and pole…no equipment need. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif So between them and working on your spins you can build up your strength. Just remember that anytime you use your muscles heavily you want a day of rest in between work outs, this include pole dance, because it is a full body work out. Have fun dancing. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif
