Ibelieveinunicorns….I don't have you doing  just cardio on rest days. I tell you what to do EACH day even on rest days. All you need to do is what is listed under the main video player. Those lessons are the "tasks" for the day. So everyday for 30 days go to the day your on and do the lessons placed below the player. Does that make sense?

Your holding on with the INSIDE arm too…not just hanging from the knee pit!!! If you watch the video I posted you see me grab the pole with my inside hand first, THEN flip. If your back knee pit grip is at all slipping don't continue the move.

I had my PERMANENT pole fall down….any pole can come down if its not installed right. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cop.gif We neglected to account for carpet when we measured for the permanent pole.

I've read that a lot of people really like their Lil Mynx. I've used a powder coated pole (not sure of the brand) before I LOVED it, and Lil Mynx is the only brand to offer that. I think more dancers don't suggest Lil Mynx because you do drill into the ceiling, but just the ceiling, not the floor. It's really not a big deal, I had a permanent pole and covering the holes was not a prob.

All poles can have issues though, it happens. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

January 28, 2013 at 8:32 pm in reply to: Grip Question

    Here are my thoughts….

Sweaty hands or body YES please use grip aids to help prevent slipping! However, I don't think its necessary for everyone. You could also try gloves too!

In home and in studio you should make sure to warm up!! When my body is cold there is NO WAY I can stick. If you and the pole have been properly warmed (and you don't suffer from super sweaty hands) grip should be fine. I don't have oily skin so I make sure to use a oil free lotion like lubriderm the night before I dance this makes a big difference.

I use them when I perform, because the poles may be cold and I may not be able to warm my body like I would normally. So I use a grip aid that helps me stick.

As for use in class, grip aids can make a horrible mess on the poles, so I could see that some studios would ask students to not use them in class. I've been on pole that had been used by someone wearing grip aid and fell, it was too greasy for me!!!!  If you use grip aid clean them off REALLY well for the next dancer please.

Find the combo that works for you, start with the least like a good warm up, then lotion the night before and so on, until you find your perfect match! https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

Hello! https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gifWe suggest a 45mm Chrome xpole for beginning dancers. Its solid, safe and no drilling.

As Reyn said Platinum Stages is an option too.

    HI jbsong,

Everyone reacts differently to each finish but here are general explanations of the finishes.

Brass finish has great grip when you and the pole is warm, Its good for those who sweat a lot and its also a good finish if you live in a warm climate. It can be slick in the cold however.

Chrome is what I suggest most new dancers buy, when you warm your body and the pole properly you will have a nice grip but its not too grippy.

Titanium Gold or TG as we call it, has more grip than Chrome, doesn't need as much "warming" to have nice grip. I use the TG pole in all of my video lessons because it has great grip from the start. For new dancers it can be too grippy and painful on the skin.

I have lots of conditioning and strengthening exercises for the arms and shoulders! Its one of the focus's of the lessons! Not only that, all lessons are in order so there is no guessing as to what moves are appropriate for a beginner and so on. Also I now have a new program included in the lessons, Its the 30 day take off. Here is a little video explanation of it. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Of coarse I remember you!!! Nice to see you back. Ouch, that sounds very painful but I'm glad to know you are healing. I wish I could tell you how tough new skin is, I would thinks its pretty sensitive. Hopefully someone will come along that knows! For now maybe you could wear something over it to protect it while your getting back into pole? Congratulations on quitting smoking! https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
