Hello Katrae! Sometimes if we feel stuck, its fun to work on flow and perfecting what we know. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I would play around and see what works best for you. Looking up at the pole, knees or ceiling, and also looking down or straight at the pole. I normally look right inline with the pole not up or down. You can see it here https://stage.studioveena.com/lessons/view/f7c4b1f6-b91e-11df-856f-001b214581be
If you're taking a photo you can look at the camera as well. Like this https://stage.studioveena.com/galleries/view/4f883118-12e4-4d82-bfe9-250c0ac37250

I have no dance or gymnastic experience either. However, I've always loved to move my body! Health was my favorite subject in grade school. lol
As a child I taught myself to cartwheel and could roundoff. I did the splits (middle only) but didn't think to work on back mobility. My sisters took me roller skating and ice skating when I was little. Later I taught myself how to figure skate in my early teens by reading books. I think I was 15 or 16 when I took a few sessions of lessons. In my 20s I went back to an adult skating class for a session. I've always caught on to anything physical very quickly. Math….not so much!! I did cheerleading from grade school through most of high school, BUT its very, very, small town stuff. No tumbles, the one girl who could do a back flip was a goddess to everyone! It was the kind of cheering where the kids made up the moves!! hehe.https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif I also rode horse for a little bit, before I took my skating lessons. I knew I wanted to focus on something phyical, but nothing stuck until I found POLE!!
I was into weight lifting for a few yrs before I discovered pole. My ace certification and personal training experience is what helped me find my way when I was new to pole. So even though I was never formally trained in anything, my experiences have all helped increase body awareness for.https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I'm also in the "strongly dislike" category. LOL I'm not sure I would run if I was being chased…well, I guess it would depend on what's chasing me!
I get the biggest "high" from pole dance, I would guess it's because I enjoy it the most. Weight lifting and flexibility training also raises my endorphins. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Are you sure you've warmed up well enough? Also you might be stretching too far. These are both common things that bring on soreness.

This is a great post to see. You never know how many other polers out there feel too shy to post. So I'm glad you shared your experience with us!! https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

I suggest deep flexibility training for a (particular muscle group) no more than 3 times per week. This is assuming you're not a pro dancer, contortionist or something of that nature. I find from personal experience that training everyday will cause me to tighten up.
Have you tried using a foam roller to stretch? I use a roller in the lessons for stretching, so you could take a look at those as well
So for example you could do the Front Splits routine Monday, The Back Mobility routine on Wednesday and the Middle Splits routine on Friday. https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Hello https://stage.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gifIf you're interested in hooping I have lesson here. Also, even though you don't yet have a home pole, the lesson include many conditioning, strength, flexibility and floorwork that can be done without a pole!

That’s the thing Lovely, you’re right. Everyone will react differently. I do think that for most of us we don’t have to vaccum up skin! So putting on lotion right before isn’t recommended. There will
Always be exceptions 🙂 -
Silverlady there is no need to be rude….
Everyone, lotion can be helpful, BUT do not apply lotion right before dancing, you need to wait hours before dancing or you'll have a greasy mess.
How you and your pole react to each other will depend on weather, pole room condition, your skin, if you sweat or not and how comforable with the moves you are. But regardless of finish you can learn to work with what you have. Sometimes it's as simple as warming up, or turning off the AC,
To clean my pole Alcohol, or hot steam, from a clothing steamer or iron works wonders. Grip aids will gunk up your pole, so use them ONLY if you have to.

It wont show up on the front page, but only shows up when you're on a page where you can share. It's a small purple tab on the upper right side. Let us know if you don't see it.
